A fresh black mesh filter keeps tank debris out of the pump, the one part of a Water Rippler that wears out. It also shields the body and the outlet ports, the parts that keep the surface moving. Dirty water shortens pump life, so swapping a clogged filter is routine upkeep that protects it.
Keep one on hand. Add it to your Water Rippler order and a mid-winter change takes minutes instead of a 3 to 5 business day wait on a shipment from the manufacturer.
Every Water Rippler ships with a filter screen fitted to the pump; this is the direct replacement. Water passes through the mesh before it reaches the pump and the outlet ports, so most loose material in the tank stays on the outside where it can be rinsed off. A drop in pump pressure is the cue to check it: if the unit seems to be running with less pressure than usual, look for debris on the screen and move the whole unit gently through the water to clear it. Or take the filter off and clean it with a rinse, a soft brush or an air hose. When it no longer cleans up, swap in this one. It fits the Electric, Solar and Dual Power models.
This part fits all three Water Rippler models. They share the same body, pump and caps and differ only in how they are powered.
Swipe sideways to compare all three.
| Electric | Solar | Dual Power | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power source | Standard 120V outlet through the included outdoor-rated AC/DC converter | Your own 12V battery and solar panels | Either one: outlet or your solar setup |
| Cords in the box | 6 ft power cord and AC/DC converter | 6 ft power cord and 15 ft solar cable with ring terminals | 6 ft power cord, AC/DC converter and 15 ft solar cable |
| You supply | An outlet, GFCI recommended | Battery, panels and an MPPT charge controller | An outlet, or battery, panels and controller |
| Best for | Tanks by the barn or anywhere a cord reaches | Remote tanks with no outlet nearby | Tanks that move between the barn and the pasture, or keeping both options open |

The filter only, in black mesh. No pump, tubing or hardware is included; those come in the Spare Pump Kit.
| What you see | Check first | Part |
|---|---|---|
| Flow has dropped | Flush the screen in the water or clean it by hand | If it no longer cleans up: Replacement Filter |
| Water stopped, power is good, screen is clean | Confirm power at the outlet or battery | Spare Pump Kit |
| The cord will not reach the outlet or battery | The unit ships with a 6 ft cord | 10 Foot Extension Cord, 16 ft total |
It is a spare part, not an upgrade. It does not change how the unit runs. If the pump has failed, you need the Spare Pump Kit.
There is no set change interval. Water Rippler does not publish one, so go by the filter: when a flush and a hand cleaning no longer clear the mesh, fit a new one.
It does not fix mineral buildup. That is a separate problem on the pump, and Water Rippler's fix is a soak in a 30% vinegar solution. Hard-water buildup, mineral deposits and normal wear are not covered by the pump warranty, so keeping the water path clean is worth the few minutes it takes.
